I’ve managed to install with android x86 release 5.1-rc1 and release 6.0-r3. Choose the 32-bit ISO instead, the 64-bit seems have some issues with the system. The x86 Android* 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) emulator system image enables you to run an emulation of Android on your development machine. In combination with the Android SDK, you can test your Android applications on a virtual Android device based on Intel Architecture.
In order to install the emulator image add-on, you can use the Android SDK Manager (Recommended Method):

Buildroid now run on most of the x86 processors, added two new resolutions 400x768 and 1366x768 (phone version and tablet version), and also allowing to install more apps with data partition extended to 5GB. The screen rotation bug resulting screen upside down in previous update has been corrected too. (More details)
